How to convert PNG to JPG online for free
Why convert PNG to JPG
PNG is great for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges or transparency. But when you need to attach a picture to a form, send it to a printing service or upload it to a site that only accepts JPG, PNG often gets in the way. Some platforms reject it outright, and others handle it badly.
The PNG to JPG converter on NetworkTools solves this in a few clicks. The conversion runs in your browser, so your images are not sent to a server, and you do not need an account.
Step by step
- Open the PNG to JPG converter. On the left you will see the Quality and Processing Speed sliders, and in the middle a large drop zone.
- Drag your PNG files into the drop zone, or click it to pick files from your device. You can add several files at once.
The PNG to JPG converter before conversion: quality slider on the left and the drag-and-drop area - Set the Quality slider. The default is around 75%, which is a sensible balance for most pictures. Move it to the right for a cleaner image, to the left for a lighter one.
- Each file appears in the list under Added files. Click Convert next to a file, or use Convert all to process the whole list. When it finishes, the file is marked Converted and you will see the original size and the new size.
Result: the file is marked Converted, with the Download and Download all (ZIP) buttons - Click Download to save a single JPG, or Download all (ZIP) to get every converted file in one archive. If you added a wrong file, Remove takes it off the list.
Tips for better results
- Check the file size. JPG is usually lighter for photos, but that is not guaranteed. A simple graphic or a synthetic image with flat colours can actually become larger as JPG. The list shows both sizes, so you can see it straight away.
- Mind transparency. JPG does not support transparent areas. Transparent parts of a PNG are filled with a solid colour, so keep the PNG if you still need the transparency.
- Keep the original. JPG is lossy. If you may need to edit the picture again later, keep the PNG as your master copy.
- Use quality above 80% for text and fine lines. Compression artefacts show up first around sharp edges.
- Converting many files? Add them all at once and download the ZIP instead of saving files one by one.
FAQ
Is the PNG to JPG converter free?
Yes. The tool is free and there is no sign-up.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs locally in your browser, so the files stay on your device.
Will the JPG be smaller than the PNG?
Not always. Photos usually get smaller, while simple graphics can get larger. Compare the sizes shown in the file list and adjust the quality if needed.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are replaced with a solid background colour.
